Si Ord opened Sandinista! in October 2002, inspired by his love of music, food and drink and Central American culture. Adopting the maxim 'nuestra casa es tu casa' -our home is your home - the idea was to create a bar for ‘everyone’ in the city’s northern quarter.
Sandinista! is a bar in the true cantina style serving an extensive menu all day until late. You can choose from a wide range of tapas, bocadillos (sandwiches) and weekly specials, as well as hearty roasts served throughout the winter months. Every dish is freshly prepared with high quality and locally sourced ingredients. Menu highlights include Croquetas de Cangrejo (crab croquettes), Albondigas (home-made meatballs) and Saffron Risotto Cakes, all of which embody Sandinista!’s Latin inspired food ethos: simple yet very tasty. Almost half of the tapas menu is Gluten-free, and there is a good range of vegetarian options. You will find the perfect accompaniment to whatever takes your fancy from our extensive wine list.
