WELCOME TO LET'S EAT LEEDS

Think of what Leeds is famous for and perhaps you'll think of the city's unbeatable shopping or of its recent success as a centre of law and finance. Or, maybe with a tinge of regret you'll think of Leeds United’s wavering fortunes on and off the pitch. But what about food? Eating out may not be the first thing that springs to mind, but that is certainly changing.

Let's Eat Leeds is a new restaurant association with the aim of promoting Leeds as the UK's 'gastro city'. Night after night, hundreds of restaurants in the city serve thousands of happy customers both locals and visitors to the city with food representing the finest of British, French, Thai, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and many other cuisines.

As John Pallagi, owner of Room restaurant and a founding member of Let's Eat Leeds, puts it: "The face of tourism is constantly changing; business tourists, retail tourists and destination tourists now all want to enjoy good food wherever they are or wherever they intend to visit. There is no recognised 'gastro city' in the UK and Let's Eat Leeds aims to ensure that Leeds enjoys the profile it, and the restaurants of Leeds, deserve."

To recognise the best that Leeds has to offer, Leeds Restaurant Association hosted their second annual Leeds Restaurant Awards which took place at Leeds Town Hall on the 14th November 2006, the black-tie ceremony lived up to expectations as one of the cities most high-profile events of the year. The night recognised the very best in the industry.
